We created this bikini top with an intricate drape of our popular hexagonal-shaped chainmaille in order to transform it into a stylish halter top. However, we did not have the oppurtunity to make one for every customer who wanted one because she had to be wearing the top during the very time intensive web-weaving process. More About These Tops We've been creating incredibly comfortable and attractive chainmail bikini tops since we started this business over 12 years ago. Our tops provide support and are so tightly woven that they are street legal with no lining. They have sewn lycra straps for comfort. Even so, we still insist on making them only in light-weight aluminum because the minimum of 2 pounds they would weigh in steel or brass gets uncomfortable quickly. Our tops are often worn all day long so comfort is a priority.
As we close each of the 1500 to 2000 little links, we check to make sure the edges are closed flush so the piece will rest smoothly against the skin without scratching. The reason they can be worn unlined in public is also why they don't pinch. There's no room between the links to get anything caught there. The designer herself has small barbell jewelry in her piercing and never has it gotten caught.
Sunbathing is also fine, leaving perfectly normal tan lines behind. As long as the aluminum is in contact with the skin, it doesn't heat up in direct sunlight.
We no longer make bikini tops larger than those here, though it's not uncommon for some women larger than the listed sizes to prefer wearing slightly smaller tops, especially when they have a slim ribcage or little need for support. At events we once created standard tops up thru "HH", larger custom pieces, tailor-made support, and unique ornament. We are no longer able to sell at events anymore and have never felt that proper sizing and support could be attained in sizes over these without personal fittings or customizations.
